Veneers
Veneers are a thin layer of porcelain attached to the front of a tooth that allow for cosmetic reshaping. Porcelain veneers take approximately two visits to prepare the tooth and apply the veneer. Porcelain veneers are placed under local anesthetic. A thin layer of the enamel is removed from your tooth to create room for the veneer while making a rough surface for adhesion of the porcelain. An impression is taken to create a mold of your teeth for fabrication of the custom porcelain veneer. A temporary veneer is placed to maintain the space for the permanent veneer, the temporary veneer is worn until the final porcelain veneer has been fabricated by the lab. During the second visit, the temporary veneer is removed and a mild chemical is placed on your teeth to roughen the surface allowing the permanent porcelain veneer to attach better to the tooth. The porcelain veneer is then permanently glued to the tooth using composite resin cement.
